DupalCon Vienna was held from 26-29 September 2017. It is an international event that brings the Drupal community together in order to help them establish connections and knowledge in the field of developing the Drupal platform. In 2017 Trio Group was participating in the event with a presentation and as a sponsor of the official party.
Besides the many useful sessions, we could hear during those inspirational five days, there were some we just can’t miss mentioning here. The first one was the presentation of Belgium born Drupal founder, Dries Buytaert. During his Driesnote, he presented statistics according to which this year Drupal.org shows an increased number of the individual contributors and organizations with more than 26 percent, compared to the last year. “Europe is very important to Drupal”, he said. 45% of all the code contributors on drupal.org come from Europe. He also added that according to One Shoe survey, made with owners of Drupal Agencies, the ecosystem is growing. The same survey also showed most of the agencies already use Drupal 8 platform only.
He made the perfect prelude to the major Drupal takeaways, pointing that
• Drupal is growing and changing
• Drupal is no longer for simple sites, but for sites with medium-to-high richness
• There are new automated updates
Our Managing Partner Ivo Radulovski had a session “Drupal Enterprise Marketing as a Global Business Alliance” where he pointed on the next steps of the Global Drupal Business Alliance and how Drupal companies can contribute to a successful future of Drupal in the enterprise sector. While being leaders in technology many companies around the world face challenges growing, marketing their businesses and Drupal as a whole. To tackle these issues companies from all major markets set the goal to create a democratic alliance.
We also have some news about Drupal we want to share - Drupal 8.4 had its launch on October 4th, 2017. The release includes new updated modules and features, usability improvements, and backwards-compatible API improvements. We will update you with more details about the new version soon.
Unfortunately, there might not be DruplaCon in Europe next year, but you can check the sessions you have missed this year by following the link to the youtube channel of the Drupal Association here.
